Practical Success Strategies For Fitting Open Technology
Ken LaFerle, AuD., CCC-A

Open fittings are so wide ranging that it is often difficult for the dispenser to understand the key elements that lead to a successful fitting. This presentation will define the different open strategies - thin tube, RIE, venting schemes, amplification and directional schemes - and connect them with successful adaptation for the client.
Fitting With Spatial Awareness
George Lindley, Ph.D.

Hearing aid development has traditionally been driven by the audiological description of speech understanding in noise. What is not typically part of the discussion is how hearing aids can act to support the natural spatial organizational processes of the brain. This presentation explains the importance of localization and spatial awareness when fitting hearing instruments, and includes the results of clinical trials.

Improving Patient Retention
Jerry L. Yanz, Ph.D.

Industry studies show patients only retain about 25% of the information in a medical consultation, making it essential for dispensers to learn how to present critical information in a way that patients clearly understand. This presentation will focus on how to improve patient retention by teaching you the principles of adult learning, designed by professional trainers, and how to apply them in your daily counseling.

Real World Verification
Lucas W. Doyle, AuD.

There are many tools for dispensers to verify fittings. The challenge is knowing what tools should be used. Is there justification to obtain objective measures of hearing aid benefit? What are the easiest verification methods? These questions and more will be addressed to give you the tools you need to select reasonable, “real world” verification methods you can implement into your practice — immediately.

Latest Trends in Hearing Aid Technology
Jennifer Wright, Au.D., CCC-A

From cell phones to televisions, technology is constantly changing and improving, and hearing aids are no exception. It is important for the hearing aid industry to constantly challenge their latest innovations to grow, and it is vital that the individuals that dispense hearing aids embrace and understand the latest in technology. From noise suppression to feedback control, this presentation will discuss the latest trends in technology in the hearing aid industry.

FM and Assistive Listening Devices - The Latest Technology
Gail Grant, AuD, FAAA

Hearing aids do an incredible job of improving communications, but they fall short in many cases. Hearing aids can only do so much to meet the expectations of rehabilitation results, which have increased with the improvement of technology. Utilization of FM and assistive listening devices can help to meet these needs. In this presentation you will hear about the recent huge leap forward that FM has taken, and the devices that complement this new technology.
