Convention CE Hours Going Virtual In 2021
10 hours of live "in-person" CE on ZOOM video platform will be free to all members!
(Oct. 6, 2020) Today, the THAA Board of Directors announced the 10 hours of continuing education usually offered at the association's annual convention every June will be moved to an online Virtual CE Conference in 2021 - free of charge to all THAA members.
"The ongoing uncertainty of the pandemic and of a vaccine development and distribution program have again made it impossible to proceed with preparations for an annual convention and trade show in 2021," said THAA President Chris Bisel. "Making a decision now to go virtual with the convention CE presentations next year will guarantee members a way to obtain the in-person hours they need for future license renewals."
Currently, all licensed dispensers are required to obtain 20 hours of continuing education during their 24 month license renewal period - with at least 10 of those hours coming from live, in-person programming. TDLR has recently ruled that live virtual CE programs approved for license renewal will count as required in-person hours.
At the moment, the association is developing virtual CE programs totaling 10 hours that will be conducted on non-consecutive Saturdays in 2021 - allowing members to obtain their required in-person CE hours without interfering with work. All hours will be approved for license renewal in Texas (TDLR) and for BC-HIS. Dates and registration procedures will be announced to members in the near future. These virtual programs will be provided on the popular ZOOM video conferencing platform and, unlike the annual convention, all 10 hours will be free to THAA members.
Future announcements concerning these virtual CE programs will be issued in the THAA UPDATE and on this page.
