Course Description:

Speech in Noise (SIN) is considered to be BEST PRACTICE by AAA, ASHA and IHS. As such, it should be a regular test conducted by the Hearing Care Provider (HCP). However, it appears that fewer than 1 in 5 comprehensive audiometric evaluations include SIN testing and evaluation. In this presentation, we will address why and how to do a SIN evaluation and will offer real world examples. We will discuss why (in the opinion of the presenter) the single most important test an HCP can offer is a SIN test.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, attendees will be able to:

  1. Name two SIN tests.
  2. Define the "SNR-50"
  3. Describe the difference between FUNCTIONAL and CLINICAL tests.
