THAA is a not-for-profit professional trade association serving persons licensed by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation to fit and dispense hearing aids to the hearing impaired of Texas. The purpose of this state association is set forth in its mission statement shown below. The association is owned and operated by its membership and governed by a Board of Directors elected by the membership. The THAA offices and staff are located in Austin, a few blocks from the State Capitol.
The association also conducts an annual convention which offers continuing edcuatuon courses, networking ooportunities, and a trade show where manufacturers and suppliers display the latest in products and services available to licensed dispensers.
The association is a chapter of the International Hearing Society, the national association for licensed hearing instrument specialists, and supports the IHS effort to represent licensed dispensers at the national level.

Government Affairs Representation
Most of your membership dues go to pay for professional representation of licensed dispensers before the Texas Legislature, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (Medicaid), and other state agencies that can affect the hearing aid industry and your practice. THAA maintains a full-time staff and lobby team in Austin who monitor and track all legislative and state regulatory proposals affecting your license, and coordinate efforts to advance the profession and protect members in the political arena.

THAA Online Continuing Education - Free-of-Charge!
Your THAA membership now includes 10 hours of online continuing education - free of charge - during your two-year license renewal period (the maximum number of online hours permitted by Texas law). The new THAA Online Continuing Education section of this site allows you to choose your own CE courses from a wide range of professional video presentations and record completed courses to your Personal Tracking Report - a permanent record of the online and convention CE hours you have completed with THAA. You no longer have to keep track of any THAA CE certificates. And, If you are chosen for audit during your license renewal, Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation has agreed to accept a printed copy of your PTR as proof of the CE hours you completed during the previous two years. Discount Registration Fees To THAA Annual Convention
Members are also entitled to discounted registration fees to the THAA Annual Convention & Southwest Regional Trade Show - with 10 CE hours approved for license renewal in Texas. This event is the annual meeting of the licensed hearing aid dispensers in Texas and across the Southwest. All proceeds realized from this convention go to the THAA general operating fund to help pay for expenses incurred by the association in representing dispensers before the Texas Legislature, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, and other state agencies affecting licensed dispensers in Texas. Members attending this meeting are doing more than just acquiring CE hours. They are supporting the only organization in the state that protects their license, their profession, and their livelihood. In addition, they continue their professional education by attending truly meaningful and worthwhile CE presentations.
