The Voice of Texas Hearing Instrument Specialists for More Than 75 Years

Texas Hearing Aid Association (THAA) is a nonprofit professional association—owned and operated by its membership and governed by a Board of Directors elected by the members—that serves the hearing instrument specialists licensed by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), who in turn, serve the hearing impaired of Texas. The purpose of the association is set forth in its mission statement.

The THAA offices and staff are located in Austin. The association:

  • Represents its members before the Texas Legislature and the TDLR Hearing Instrument Fitters and Dispensers Advisory Board.
  • Monitors and tracks all legislation and regulatory proposals affecting its members' daily practice and lobbies on behalf of its members.
  • Provides at least 20 hours of TDLR-approved continuing education each year through in-person and virtual programming.
  • Provides valuable professional/industry resources and updates through email newsletters, educational opportunities, and online resources.
  • Recognizes one of its members each year with the coveted THAA Dispenser of the Year Award, awarded to the licensed hearing instrument specialist who practices the highest standard of ethics when serving the hearing impaired of Texas.
