Course Description: In this course, hearing healthcare professionals will learn how to guide patients through their hearing journey by understanding when and how to introduce implantable technology. We’ll explore common objections and equip hearing professionals with effective communication strategies to address patient hesitations. By fostering informed discussions, we can enhance patient outcomes and promote the adoption of cochlear implants. Learning Objectives: 1. Hearing Healthcare professionals will learn to recognize key milestones in a patient’s hearing loss progression where introducing implantable technology becomes relevant. 2. Participants will gain confidence in navigating conversations, addressing concerns, and providing accurate information about implantable technology. 3. Hearing Healthcare Professionals will learn how to foster informed discussions with patients, emphasizing shared decision-making and individualized care. Speakers: Kristen Caron, Au.D. Cochlear Clinical Services Audiologist Dr. Kristen Caron graduated with her Doctor of Audiology (AuD) degree in 2010 from Syracuse University. Since that time, she has worked in various clinical settings and in business development roles within the hearing implant industry. Dr. Caron’s passion for audiology, especially cochlear implants, developed when she met a 2-year-old boy with a cochlear implant in a preschool class she worked in during college. She was fascinated by what the technology could do and changed her career path because of it. She is dedicated to listening to each patient's unique needs and goals to provide the best hearing solution to improve their overall quality of life. Outside of patient care, Dr. Caron has a passion for educating healthcare professionals about the importance of treating hearing loss. Laura Lassen, Au.D., Senior Manager Growth Channels Laura Lassen is the Senior Manager for Growth Channels at Cochlear. She has a B.S. in Speech and Hearing Sciences from Miami University and received her Au.D. from Vanderbilt University. She has worked in a range of industry roles including clinical trainer, territory manager, sales trainer and regional director for two different hearing aid manufacturers. Her clinical experience includes both private practice and ENT settings providing diagnostic and hearing aid support for the adult population. |
